When it comes to aged care, Australians are well supported, with the government contributing around 78% of costs to aged care services needed1. This funding is through My Aged Care and offers seniors incredible benefits and at Home Care Assistance, we pride ourselves in making this process as smooth, transparent and stress free as possible. We want to ensure that you can continue to live independently at home, with the right level of support you need, in order to focus on the things you love doing and not just the things you have to do.
With in-home care services making the process easier for seniors to receive the funding support they need to assist with essential services, it is important that these funds are optimised to the fullest in order to achieve and enjoy the benefits they offer. At Home Care Assistance, we ensure that seniors get the most out of their funding by utilising the wonderful support options available. We are here to guide you through the entire process – from assessment on first application to ensure you receive the right support to meet your lifestyle and needs, as this is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. At Home Care Assistance, we focus on your care goals and work alongside you to create the right plan, talk you through the services available, discuss your budget, any fees you may be required to pay and your homecare agreement.
The Assessment Process
The first stage is to find out if you are eligible for subsidised aged care. This involves visiting www.myagedcare.gov.au and undergoing a two-part assessment process that understands your needs and what services could help you. The next step is to then to check your eligibility for an assessment. You can either do this online, or you can contact My Aged Care to discuss your needs and options on 1800 200 422.
- Assessment
If your application is successful, you will be referred for an assessment. Assessments are done in person, at your own home.
- Assessment outcome
After your assessment, you will find out if you’re eligible for government-funded services – and if so, which ones you’re eligible for.
